Western side Bromwich Town Hall might take on The Public activities role - expressandstar. com.

Funny and entertainment held at the Public in West Bromwich might moved to the town's historic town hall as part of plans for the arts centre to be transformed into a faculty.

It was revealed a short while ago that Sandwell College was in talks with council bosses to show the £72 million centre in a sixth-form for 500 A-Level students.

And it is now proposed to move events to the much bigger town hall building if ever the takeover goes ahead. Council bosses said earlier this year they will turn the Grade II listed building to a venue to rival Wolverhampton Civic Hall, investing millions associated with pounds on installing beats and lighting systems.

Deputy council leader Councillor Mahboob Hussain, proclaimed: "If the deal explains with the college we are looking at holding similar sorts of events that your Public used to hold to create life back into Rest of the world Bromwich Town Hall. Early indications are that most of the events that are being held within the Public, and even some bigger ones might held at the town hall because the capacity is bigger.

Sandwell Council took over the management of the centre last season – a year following it opened – following on from the Arts Council walked out, and continues to pump £1. 5 million annually into the building.
