Why Did not Zack Greinke Attentive Catcher A.J. Ellis about Carlos Quentin Bad Body?

La Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke could have been able to steer clear of the broken collarbone he endured when San Diego's Carlos Quentin billed the mound after getting hit by a frequency on April 11. All Greinke had to do was inform catcher A.J. Ellis that there clearly was a very contentious relationship between himself and Quentin going back to their days in the American League Central with the Royals and White Sox. At least that is what Greinke, who was simply at Dodgers Stadium for the game against Hillcrest, informed reporters on Wednesday (via ESPN L A). I would have informed (Ellis). I knew a person with the White Sox has usually described me as some one that does stuff.AI didn't think it'd occur, but looking back at it I should have warned him. I am aware he'd feel much better about it. For those that don't know, Greinke had hit Quentin with a frequency twice before this latest event that caused Quentin to cost the mound and result in the injury that will keep Greinke out for at the least two months. Here is how the whole lot started. Courtesy of GameReax.com Plus, Quentin getting hit with a message is nothing new. Since the start of the 2010 time, no body has been awarded first base after being hit by way of a message a lot more than the Padres slugger. He has been struck 62 times within the last few three-plus years, 13 a lot more than the following closest person, Robinson Cano. But why is that statistic even more alarming may be the fact that Quentin, who has been harm vulnerable throughout his career, has played in 154 fewer activities than Cano. (h/t Fangraphs) When he steps in the field that his left elbow is on top of home plate, making it easier for an internal pitch to eat his elbow you can observe. He also wears a knee pad to protect herself from getting injured. For his job, Quentin has been struck 116 times. No time before had he charged the mound, but on this particular day he chose to strike. Following the game, Quentin blamed whatever it had been that Greinke explained for why he made a decision to charge the mound (via mlb.com). But given the record that Quentin and Greinke have, not to mention the fact that Quentin includes a much larger frame, it is curious why Ellis wasn't made aware of the specific situation. The simplest answer is that seemed to be an accident on Greinke's part. If there clearly was something destructive behind the plunking, Greinke,Apresumably, might have let his catcher know so he could step in. Some can look at the pitch and mention that Ellis was put up outside just for it to perform way inside and hit Quentin on the supply, not characteristic of a recognized for good control. But when that is truly the case, why would Greinke go to a complete count before striking Quentin? Where in fact the conspiracy theories do not endure that's. A.J. Ellis couldn't have known what Carlos Quentin's response could be.Christian Petersen/Getty Pictures Still another possible solution might be that Greinke had blocked out his history with Quentin. In the end, we are speaking about something which goes back to the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Just how much do you remember from those years? Again, playing anti-conspiracy theorist, athletes are like tigers. It does not matter how far removed an episode is, they do not forget anything that occurs when they are on the area. Possibly the answer for why Greinke didn't tell Ellisa'or other people who might have walked in to help prevent this situationa'doesn't exist. That is maybe not the pretty response supporters want, particularly when one of their high-priced stars is on the corner for 2 weeks, however it could be the most logical. Greinke, while certainly a fiery player, doesn't have the sort of personal agenda to risk herself for the benefit of the group. Quentin clearly overreacted to the problem, regardless of what Greinke said on the pile afterward. Ellis did have to be able to step up involving the two right away, but by the time the specific situation escalated, there clearly was no stopping it. It had been only one of these regrettable circumstances that one player took to the extreme, resulting in a significant problems for a key player on a marquee team.
