NEW ORLEANS (AP) a' Geno Auriemma has never lost an NCAA title game. Of course, his UConn Huskies haven't had to handle a group like upstart Louisville, that is making an unprecedented run through the match. A victory Tuesday evening on the Cardinals would be UConn's eighth subject, coordinating them with Tennessee for the absolute most ever in women's basketball. Auriemma didn't wish to contemplate it. "Talking about things that have not happened yet is never a good idea," Auriemma said. Record is on the Hall of Fame coach's side: UConn is 7-0 in title games, including a victory in the 2009 game against Louisville and the 2004 game which was also performed in New Orleans. "I don't remember a thing, you attempt not to remember anything about those games," Walz deadpanned. "We are playing better baseball. The youngsters are confident, very little more to say. We have confidence in what we're doing. No one thought we had beat Baylor, no one thought we had beat Tennessee." Walz is not fazed by his team's insufficient success against Connecticut. It's hard to blame him the way the Cardinals have rolled through the contest behind freewheeling guard Shoni Schimmel. First came the upset of Brittney Griner and Baylor that shocked everybody else. Then came the victory on the Lady Vols a the winningest method in women's basketball history.
