Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson backs Robin van Persie to start ... - Express.co.uk

Van Persie has seen his form dip in recent weeks and he has found the net only once in his past 12 outings for the Red Devils.

The Dutchman spurned a fabulous chance against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge on Monday when he volleyed over widely from five yards.

Ferguson, who was joking with reporters at his news conference about never having gone through a 'dry spell', believes it won't be long before Van Persie rediscovers his golden touch.

Ferguson, who played as a forward, most notably for Rangers, said technique is key to being able to find the back of the net.

On the injury front, Wayne Rooney is back in training and could be fit for the big Manchester derby after missing the Easter programme.
